It's been TWO weeks since I made a Patreon post! OOPS!
Go easy on me, I was at MAGfest for 6 days, so I didn't have a lot of time... but!!! I did get a lot done! LET'S GET INTO IT.

MAGfest

MAGfest was a blast, as always. This year I watched fewer acts, which was a shame, but I was able to spend a lot more time in the arcade, dealer hall and indie showcase! Speaking of which, my friends at NEON DEITY games had a booth there and were promoting their new game Bruisin' Cruisers! Definitely go give it a wishlist on Steam and follow them! I often go to them for advice in navigating the game dev world. Absolute homies.

I also got to meet some of the devs for of the Devil, which I'm aware is having a MOMENT in the world consciousness right now and I gotta be real... I bought it the other day and... yeah. It deserves it. It's amazing. Sometimes the public opinion is correct and this time it definitely is. Go play it right now.

I also played a fun free game called Phantom Feline, which is a simple puzzle platformer in Gameboy style. Go check it out, too!

I gotta get one of those tiny old school TVs....

THE BIG LEAGUES

Ok, small confession time:

I'm not someone who's TOO anxious, most of the time... but whenever I play someone else's game, I can't help but feel like "UGH their's is so GOOD and mine is so SHIT, they're gonna come over here and beat me up and spit in my mouth!" I know that's dumb, but Negative Reverie is my first game and it's never gonna look more hi-fidelity than anything that isn't strictly 4 colors and 160 x 144 pixels, so I get a little nervous about it. Oh well!

ANYWAY, that's all to say that I was extremely surprised and humbled to see that Negative Reverie was the most liked and commented on indie game in a thread by internet celebrity Casey Explosion! I really appreciate the support and interest everyone shared with us in it!

ALSO, there are a LOT of very cool indie games in that thread, so you should read the rest of it too! As the world's foremost platformer enjoyer, Rog & Roll really caught my attention! It looks awesome.

ALSO, ALSO, it looks like the wishlists started taking off this week too, which has been very heartening! I really appreciate everyone's support so much aaaaaa!

Thank you so much!!!

PIXEL ART

Would you look at that? I made more pixel art this week.

Yippee.

NEGATIVE REVERIE

NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT! I got a lot done this week.

First off, I wanna give Negative Reverie Character Designer Maizilla a shoutout for doing a lot of awesome work! She sent me a Christmas card that I JUST got around to opening.... and look who was on it!

...maybe they ARE the same person....

She ALSO designed some stickers just last night! LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE!

LOOK AT THEM!!!!

Mai is so cool. Such a professional.

Big yippee, I finally got saving and loading done in NR. It's a little wonky, but I think I'm doing it correctly? At the moment, it holds an INFINITE NUMBER OF SAVE SLOTS, but... I'll probably limit it to 99 or something. Speaking of saving and loading... I made this for the menu screen:

The two symbols of Negative Reverie... a box cutter and a bloody work badge....

We also have.... drum roll please.... CONFIG SCREEN.

The music and sfx sliders aren't there yet... and it's a little hard to read... but the top two options WORK, dammit!

The BIG work, though, was done on the FamilyTech Network and Storage Locker Interface! This will be the object that you interact with to do things like, save your game, exchange locker tickets, customize your color palette and cursor, and look up info about terms in the world! I think the transition is lookin preeeetty smoooth!

Speaking of custom cursors... that one is the FF finger pointer, but it's the middle finger instead hehe

So... yeah! Getting a lot done! I also have a BIG BIG BIG BIG ANNOUNCEMENT to give, regarding the game art soon... I have a discord call about it TODAY, in fact! You'll just have to wait for it, though. >:)
