Not every week can be a winner....
BUT THIS ONE WAS.

Even though I didn't have any extra time during the work week, I was able to really LOCK IN on my days off this weekend and knock out and good 8 hours minimum each day. I got a whopping ELEVEN rooms done and in my humble opinion.... they're some of the better rooms I've made.

Let's just get into it.

NEGATIVE REVERIE UPDATES

So, the area I'm working on right now is called The Toobe and it's the way that people try to get around in the world of Negative Reverie. Astonishingly, the founders of the city didn't think to add more than one lane going each way and didn't add any pull off areas.... so once there is a problem in the Toobe... that's Vuota and Co.'s chance to sneak in and get where they need to go.

That's one way to get around.
VROOM VROOM!

Anyway, it's not all just tubes and roads. I also took some time to rework how flashlights work. Vuota and Scaltra don't carry phones, so they don't have lighting sources on them. That means, in dark areas, it might be a good idea to put Gisele or Muscles up front! I also reworked how the flashlights actually illuminate the area around them. Now there's a few actual light sources; one that represents the directional beam of the flashlight and a few that just lightly fill in light around the character and interact with the lights in the area.

I'm pretty proud of how it's looking now!

I'm really going all in on gifs today, huh?

Also, even though I've been really concentrating on tilemaps, I've started putting in little scenes here and there...

Pictured: Vuota tries to get arrested.

Ok what else, what else...

Here's your weekly tilemap count:

aaaaaand here's your github commit dump, since I have forgotten to actually post it the last few weeks:

Added more dialogue, added Toobe tilemap, added several Toobe locations, Vuota and Scaltra can no longer use a flashlight, flashlight effect looks different, added DuctDrop, ZoominCars, Step in front of Police scenes, changed the camera to operate on physics_process instead of _process, camera now sends a signal when it reaches it's destination via a free move

Adding a shopping icon to the ActionIcons, added 8 more Toobe locations, action icons now show when near a shop, added droppable ladders to Toobe, added a scene to hop on and off cars in the toobe

OH YEAH! I'm reading my own commits as I post them and I forgot!!! Let me give you a little GODOT TIP:

UPDATE THE CAMERA IN THE PHYSICS PROCESS METHOD!!!!

This whole time I've been updating it once per frame, but occasionally this has resulted in weird stutters when moving directly left or right. Apparently the issue is that the player's motions are being controlled during the physics process, so if you update the camera during the FRAME process, it's liable to be off by a little bit and round the player's position a little to the left on this frame and a little to the right on the next. I made the change and WOW it's like magic. It looks so much better.

Anyway, ok... enough about the camera. I got a little worked up, there.

UHHHHH....

What else did I even do this week...

I worked a LOT and packed up more of my belongings to get ready for moving... so there's that. I also started Final Fantasy XV for the zillionth time. Maybe this time I'll finally beat it.

I guess one large thing I did was delete all my delivery apps. I think I spend more money than anyone in the WORLD on delivery food, so it's time put that pony to bed. No more, I say! Maybe I can keep you updated on what I'm eating each week, hahaha. For now it's tuna sandwiches and occasional scoops of peanut butter.

I didn't really do any Japanese language study or music stuff this week, aside from going to my practice space early in the week and adjusting some guitar tones. We've got everything set up now for a REAL 80s STYLE RECORDING SESSION.

My bassist handles all this, since I don't know anything about drums or microphones, lmao.

I will be announcing some new shows soon though, so look forward to that! ZAKU is making MOVES, babycakes!

Well, that's it.

Ok, goodbye goodbye!!

Have a good week this week and I appreciate your continued support!! My infinite love to anyone who actually reads these, hahaha. See y'all next week! Be safe!
