PIXEL BABES
THAT’S RIGHT.
I actually drew some pixel art this week. It’s been a while, but I caught the bug again. A friend of mine recently said he’s incredible at being productive at a task as long as there is something ELSE he should be doing…. and if that ain’t the truest thing I’ve ever heard. I should be working on Negative Reverie… which makes drawing unrelated things WAY easier. B)
Last night I had the idea for a witch character without any arms who used summoned spell hands… and MINUTES before I wrote this post, a homie informed me there is a vtuber with exactly that gimmick…
I’m washed up; a dirty copy cat.
Oh well! I think it still came out pretty good!
Anyway, drawing has been fun. Perhaps I’ll continue to do more….

NEGATIVE REVERIE LIVE DEMO
It’s that time again for Philadelphia’s annual VGM festival STAGE CLEAR and much like last year, I will be showing of Negative Reverie there! WOW!
If you were at either of the last 2 year’s Stage Clear’s, you may notice that the organizers have leveled up the venue!! This year it’s at Underground Arts!!! That’s so huge, I’m really proud of them. (Also their band, Close to Good, is fuckin’ sick. Check em out.)
Truth is, I’ve mostly just been working on tilemaps for the last year, so the actual content of the demo is basically gonna be the same as last year… but hey! If you didn’t get a chance to get your hands on it last year, your opportunity has arrived!!!
NEGATIVE REVERIE
Speaking of tilemaps… that’s exactly what I got done. For example:
I feel like this section, despite having been looking forward to it for a long time, was kind of a road block. I had to rework areas a few times and I’m still not 100% certain how FUN the area is, if you know what I mean. I may have to revisit it closer to the end of development.
BUT, check this out:

BUT…. the next area that I’m going to start designing tonight…. it’s the first section that I don’t actually have planned out. I’m gonna have to take a walk or something and just think about what to put here. There are only 2 areas that aren’t completely scripted out and the next two are them, so it’s gonna be a challenge.
OTHER STUFF
I never complete books or video games recently. I have a bad habit of playing or reading for 30 minutes and then switching to something new.
SO, my plan is this…. I’m gonna use THE WHEEL OF STUFF TO DO:
As long as I’m able to keep it up, I think I’m gonna use the wheel to determine what piece of entertainment to focus on and then either see it through or play it long enough to confidently ditch it. Maybe it’ll work out… maybe it’ll be a terrible way to organize my time… only time will tell.
Speaking of which… the first thing the wheel landed on was….
DUNGEON GALS
So, to be clear, I have known the developer for a few years now (not super personally, but I would say we’re at least friendly acquaintances), so I was kinda tempted to evaluate this game on that more gentle grading curve that you apply to things that your friends make, right? BUT, I gotta tell you. This game has the sauce. I’m not entirely done with it yet, but there have been multiple times I had to say “I can’t believe someone I know made this”. It’s an EXCELLENT puzzle platformer and I can’t recommend it enough.
Oh yeah, I have to write a review for Tales of Phantasia still, huh?

It has a pixel art gallery and WILL eventually have more information about Negative Reverie, but the current most interesting part is that you’ll be able to read THESE VERY POSTS in the BLOG section!
